Seaweed Designs, Inc. is a North Carolina artisan line of coastal cottage, lake, mountain and garden-themed occasional tables, mirrors, prints, framed art, originals, peg and towel racks, table and floor lamps, and drawer pulls. Our styles are designed for Seaweed Kids, adults, lake living, coastal or mountain homes.

We have expanded our home accent line to include a line of Art Boutique T-shirts and accent pillows, mural tiles and back splash tiles featuring Shannon Wing's surfer girl artwork and flip-flops and V. Yeager Brown's whimsical sea life, shells, pet portraits and sailboat art.

President and Founder, Cathy MacQueen designs her line from her studio near Lake Norman (north of Charlotte). Her studio is close to her childhood home and where she grew up water-skiing and fishing on Lake Norman.

Cathy started her line in August 1997 with hand painted garden-style folk yard art. The line was marketed at a Charlotte antique mall. She also painted 'sad' tables and old discarded home accents in lightly distressed cottage and nautical themes in soft cottage and Caribbean/Bermuda tropical colors. Local designers started asking what else do you have? Or can I get another one of these? A passion was born...

Over the years, the designer line has grown to showcase Cathy's love of all things coastal and tropical. She designs with her friend and N.C. Artist, V. Yeager Brown (Jenny) to bring to life a variety of hand painted images for occasional tables, mirrors, framed artwork and lamps.

Seaweed Designs specializes in classic and whimsical hand painted artwork. Cathy's trademark style is her hand painted stripes and nautical seascapes both on mirrors and occasional tables. Stripes are hand painted (they are not perfectly straight as you'd find in an automated factory). Most colors in the palette are available at local hardware or paint stores to make it easy to coordinate walls and furnishings with our palette. Custom designs are available for furniture as well as custom hand painted artwork for children's shops and designers across the country.

MISSION: Cathy's mission is to support and promote women's art and family businesses resulting in a quality product that is manufactured in the United States.

PROUDLY MADE IN USA: In the cottage tradition, she out sources the building of her furniture and mirror/art frame designs to North Carolina family-owned workshops and factories. Cathy and Artist Jenny Brown hand paint the pieces after they have been constructed. Our furniture is built from Poplar and Birch. We do not use veneer. Most of our mirror and art frames are cut in one piece from MDF (medium density fiberboard).

LEAD TIME: For most home decor items, please allow a minimum of 2-6 weeks to ship. Upon receipt of your Pay Pal order, we will email a confirmation and estimated date for shipment.

ORDER SHIPPED: You will receive an email and tracking number when your order is shipped.

INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: We accept orders from outside Continental United States through Pay Pal. Please see our Shipping for rates. Additional shipping charges will be required for orders shipped outside of the Continental United States. A Pay Pal invoice will be emailed for the additional shipping charges. You will have the choice of paying the invoice or canceling the order.

We share the building with Campania Italian Café and Gourmet Market and are next door to Restaurant X and Fuel Pizza.
